Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple, Texas had just made some tough decisions regarding their ministry by closing their school. For a mission and outreach minded congregation the school closing was difficult.
When Synod approached them with a goal of $80,000.00 for the Ablaze initiative, that mission zeal moved the congregation to respond in a way no one imagined. With no "big push", 82 families gathered $156,600.00. "The response of the people amazed me", said Pastor Brian Bibler.
The congregation has not decided how it will use its 15% of the gift, but they are pleased that the Texas District, North American Missions and World Missions will also be blessed by their generosity. Synod has approved their request that $50,000.00 of the gift be used to build three worship/school buildings in Sri Lanka.
From Temple to Sri Lanka…..touching the world for Jesus.
