In the Ablaze movement, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod has established a goal of sharing the Good News of Jesus with 100 million unreached or uncommitted people by the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.
Fan into Flame is the vehicle formed to assist Synod in raising $100,000,000.00 to fund this mission outreach effort. The Texas District was selected to serve as a "pilot" district for this extraordinary event and has been working faithfully since the beginning of 2006.

The Texas District Goals that connect to Ablaze/Fan into Flame are:
- Create 200 new church plants by 2017 - $900,000
- Launch a Hispanic Missionary Training Center - $75,000
- Increase baptized membership by 2% per year in the District through 2017 - $25,000
- Reach 2.5 million people with the Gospel presentation by 2017
This site is designed to:
- Inform you of the rationale of the program
- Share with you how giving will be distributed locally, in Texas, across Synod and throughout the world
- Keep you informed of the progress of each of the four areas of Texas as well as the combined efforts of the entire State of Texas.
Please note these facts and statistics:
- 6 billion people in the world
- 4 billion don't know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord
- 66 of 237 nations place restrictions on religious practice
- An estimated 1.2 billion or 60% of "Christians" are nominal or non-practicing; millions more trust in their own good works
- The population of the United States grew by 72 million between 1970 and 2000 while the Missouri Synod declined by 350,000 during this same time period
The monies received from Fan into Flame will be distributed as follows:
- Participating local congregations will be reimbursed 15% of their total gift for local use
- District will be reimbursed 15% of monies contributed by participating district congregations
- Synod will receive 20% for World Missions nationally
- World wide missions will benefit from 50% of the contributions
As of June 30, 2007 individuals and congregations contributed or made commitments to contribute $5,967,615. Some congregations are still in the process of making commitments. We give thanks to God for the individuals and congregations who supported this campaign.
