Where you might ask is Lincoln? Lincoln is 8 miles NW of Giddings and has a population of less than 300 people. How could Fan into Flame impact this rural community?
St. John Lutheran worships about 200 on an average Sunday. When their pastor, Rev. Dale Bohm, shared the Fan into Flame program with them and that they had an opportunity to be leaders in this effort to reach those who don't know Jesus, the members pledged $25,000.00 as a way of showing their support.
Leaders in the congregation made an effort to reach every family in the church. While some weren't contacted, those who were committed $78,000 in cash and pledged gifts.
Even though this rural community is mostly churched, the congregation became excited when they realized that they could plant a church in India for $25,000.00.
Locally, the congregation used their first 15% check to strengthen their Vacation Bible School to attract as many people as possible. They used their most recent check to purchase "Share Life" materials to better equip their members to share Jesus with others.
